Description
Medicine Wheel teachings are said to be among the oldest Native American teachings. The term Medicine does not refer to drugs or herbs but to inner spiritual energy and healing. Early Medicine Wheel use has now become a mystery. But, the “old people” say, “The great mystery does not make mistakes”. The circle is an endless creation connecting to the past, present, and future. (The Great Circle of Life) It can represent Mother Earth, the sun, or anything in circular form.
The natural world was created in groups of four. These quadrants represent the four directions and four seasons. Four races of people-oriental, red, black, and white. Four types of creatures-flying, four-legged, two-legged, and crawling. Four elements-wind, fire, water, and air.
